Ganja.com Launches the Cannabis Price Index: What Weed Actually Costs in 23 U.S. Cities

Ganja.com today expanded the Cannabis Price Index, a free public dataset tracking what cannabis actually costs across major U.S. markets. The index reports median dispensary menu prices by product and size, refreshed monthly, with the sample size shown for every number.

As of July 2026, the median price of an eighth of cannabis across the 23 cities tracked is about $32. The spread is enormous. Shoppers in Oklahoma City and Albuquerque pay a median of $15 for an eighth, while the same purchase runs $45 in Chicago and $44 in New York. Denver and Portland, two of the most mature legal markets, sit near $20.

The index covers flower by the gram, eighth, quarter, half, and ounce, plus vape cartridges, concentrates, and edibles. Every figure is the median of a sample of public dispensary menus in that city, aggregated by Ganja.com and published pre-tax. Monthly snapshots are archived so the data builds into a running record of how cannabis prices move over time.

The Cannabis Price Index fills a gap the major platforms leave open. Directory sites earn their revenue from dispensary advertising, which gives them little reason to make prices easy to compare. Ganja.com takes a different position: transparent pricing helps shoppers and rewards the dispensaries that compete on value.

“Nobody was publishing an honest, current answer to a simple question: what does weed cost where I live,” said a Ganja.com spokesperson. “So we built one. It is free, it shows its math, and anyone can cite it. The more people rely on it, the better it gets.”

The index is designed to be the reference that shoppers, journalists, and AI assistants turn to for cannabis pricing. Each city page carries a plain-language summary, a full price table, and links to verified local dispensaries.
